A strong reminder of human life: "Heartbeat"
Where no two people follow the same path: "A life story"
An extremely private possession: "Loneliness"

We want to embrace a person's loneliness through music in which the heartbeat that continues to beat plays a leading role, and we want both the person and the audience to feel connected and healed. Two participants kindly contributed their own feelings for this work.

We intertwined the sound of the heart, a solid proof of life, with the music filled with the life story and loneliness of the owner of the heart. Furthermore, we added images that responded to the music. Can you feel connected, resonate with the heart's owner through this hearbeat music?

How We Created the Heartbeat Music

We first sent out a questionnaire, asking people if they are feeling lonely.

We picked 2 people among the respondents and asked for participation. We first conducted an one-hour interview about loneliness, trauma, and other related feelings that they experienced through their life. Lastly, we recorded their heartbeat.

Based on their life stories and the sounds of their heartbeat, we made the heartbeat musics.

Synchronizing Life with Heartbeat

In Case 1, we had a long conversation about "friends." With the beat of his heart, we aimed to relieve him from his sense of loneliness.

In Case 2, we listened to many traumatic stories that she experienced through her life. With the beat of her heart, we aimed to encourage her so that she can keep moving forward for a brighter future.
